The Ardencote heard of
pedigree Dexter cattle was founded in the early eighties; initially they joined
the Ardencote pedigree sheep and pigs although as cattle numbers increased the
sheep were sold, the last sow died in her sleep in 2007.
We only keep a small herd, running
alongside the hunters and polo ponies. We have resisted the temptation to get
into showing them although we did win a second in the small herd competition
some years ago! The one and only time that we entered, thought it best to stop
while we were ahead.
Cows
and young stock are occasionally for sale, an example of two young heifers
below.
